Donate Your Taxidermy

Taxidermy Donation FAQ’S

Thank you for your interest in Behring Global Educational Foundation.  We are a United States-based 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization making donations of taxidermy to Museums worldwide through our International Museums Partnership.

We promote the conservation and preservation of wildlife through numerous educational programs and by providing top-quality taxidermy specimens for the world’s newest and most exciting Natural History Museums.

Due to the uncertainty brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic, storage constraints and our inability to accurately forecast global events, our Board of Directors has asked us to stop accepting donations of taxidermy indefinitely.

Who are you guys, and why should I donate my taxidermy?

Behring Global Educational Foundation is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that donates taxidermy to partner museums around the world for educational purposes. Your Tax deductible donations, are saving wildlife, teaching conservation and preserving our future.

Where will my taxidermy go?

Your taxidermy could go almost anywhere around the world.  We are working with museums throughout Asia, most are in China along with some new partnerships in the USA and Canada.  We also have our own museum here in the United States, Blackhawk Museum, in Danville, California, across the street from our headquarters.  Come see it!

Why Chinese Museums?

China is building some of the largest Museums in the world.  The scale of these Mega-Museums in some of the biggest Chinese cities allow us the opportunity to educate tens of millions of visitors about preservation, conservation and wildlife from all over the world. Visit www.bgefoundation.org/museums for more information.

Can my collection of trophies stay together?

How large and diverse is your collection?   There are spaces available in new Museums that can accommodate hundreds, to more than one thousand specimens.

Tax Deduction?

Consult your tax preparer about Charitable Contributions of Taxidermy Property.  Refer to IRS Publication 526.

What is my taxidermy worth?

We do not appraise or value taxidermy.  A “qualified appraiser” (IRC Sec. 170(f)(II)(E)(ii) can provide you with a “qualified appraisal” (IRC Sec. 170(F)II(E)(i).

I want to leave my Trophies to you, so my wife and family do not have to figure out what to do with them when the time comes.

Through an estate gift to Behring Global Educational Foundation, you can take steps to ensure your trophies are utilized to promote conservation of wildlife and to educate future generations.

Consult an experienced estate-planning professional to create or modify your will or living trust.  Then contact Behring Global Educational Foundation so that we may acknowledge your gift and make certain that your intentions are understood.
